Casting Angelina Jolie as Maleficent was a no-brainer on Disney's part. No one else could project beauty, elegance, and fear simultaneously just like the animated villain in Sleeping Beauty did. But what sets the character apart from other evil witches, or any other Disney character for that matter, is the sinister, yet gorgeous-looking horns and headdress. And with news that a Maleficent sequel is currently in the works, this will surely be a great Halloween costume this year.

#1. DIY Maleficent Horns

While you may see an abundance of Maleficent costumes this Halloween, yours could be custom-made just for you if you follow SAI PANASAYA's tutorial on creating the headpiece for cheap.

Tools & Materials

A majority of the things needed can be found in your home. Anything else you need is easily found at your local arts and crafts store or on Amazon.

As you'll see in the video above, some of the products, like the fake leather, can be swapped for something else that you personally like or would rather use. It's DIY, so whatever works!

#2. DIY Maleficent Horns

This horned Maleficent headpiece (in Spanish; use the "CC" button for English subtitles) by lizzartt is a little bit more complicated, but just as cool looking.

#3. DIY Maleficent Horns, Dress, & Makeup

This horned headpiece version, by Pins and Things, will cost no more than $3, and it's a lot easier than the versions above.

In a separate video, she also shows you the DIY dress that cost about $10.

To see how Pins and Things got her Maleficent makeup, check out the video by her sister, Juicy Personality, below.

#4. DIY Maleficent Horns & Dress

This guide, by The Sorry Girls, takes a different and even cheaper approach to the horns, and it also shows you how they made their Maleficent dress, which is a little more involved, and signature staff (it's actually super easy).

#5. DIY Drag Queen Maleficent Makeup

If you're a guy and want in on the creepy Maleficent costume action, Will Doughty has a really good makeup guide. (PS: It also works for women.)

#6. DIY Maleficent Makeup

Kandee Johnson's step-by-step Malecifent makeup video offers all the advice you need to recreate the sorceress's arched eyebrows and high cheekbones with nothing more than your makeup palette. She also adds the nice touch of colored contact lens and long nails to complete the look.
